September 2021 Admissions
(For children born between 01.09.17 and 31.08.18)
The nursery class at Aboyne Lodge runs 2 sessions, a morning session (8.30am – 11.30am) and an afternoon session 12.15pm – 3.15pm) with an optional lunch club (11.30am-12.15pm).
Due to the current Government guidelines, we are unable to hold tours of our nursery. However our Year 6 Class have made a video of the school for you
Please note: Aboyne Lodge School is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, as such a temporary school has been constructed on our playground so we are on the same site just in a different building.
The current Reception and Nursery Classes (EYFS) are housed in the Nursery and Lodge room at the front of the school site – this building has already been refurbished and we can not wait to get back into our main school as the finish is fantastic and has created a wonderful warm learning environment for our Early Years classes.
Application time line:
Monday 2nd November 2020: Applications for September 2021 Nursery places open
Friday 26th February 2020: Applications for September 2021 Nursery places close
Wednesday 17th March 2021: Schools will write to parents offering a place
Wednesday 24th March 2021: Parents must accept or decline a place by this date
Please be aware that completing an application form does not guarantee a place in our Nursery class.
If offered a place in the nursery class, you will still have to apply separately for a place in Reception and follow the Hertfordshire online admission system via the Herts Direct Website
If you intend to defer your child’s entry into Reception and stay in Nursery because your child is summer born (DOB between 1st April and 31st August 2017) the deadline for letting us know is the 24th March 2021.
If you defer entry and remain in our Nursery because your child is younger and have already started in our Nursery you will be given preference on the Nursery option you would like for the following September.
If any option is oversubscribed, spaces will be allocated using the following Herts Admission criteria:
1. Everyone who wants 15 hours will be offered a place
2. If there is over subscription for 15 hour places we will implement the following admission criteria:
- Looked after child
- Medical/Social need
- Social need (as requested by health visitor or social worker)
- Parents/Carers who work at our school
- Sibling link
- Distance to the school using the Distance Measuring Tool
- Age (if the need arises priority will be given to the older child)
- Ensuring there is a balance of both girls and boys
In addition, we will offer 30 hour places until all spaces are filled. If over subscribed, the above admission criteria is followed.
