OUR RESPONSE TO COVID

At Aboyne Lodge we worked hard to ensure that our pupils were well supported through the lock down periods of 2020 and 2021, and we are confident that we are ready to move to remote teaching quickly should it happen again.

There is no doubt that the Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant effect on schools and many children's learning, with research showing that children from disadvantaged backgrounds have been more adversely affected that their more affluent peers.

While we know that some of our children have gaps in their learning, teachers are working hard to identify the areas that have been  missed. For example, as part of that strategy, we are using individual tutoring sessions to support the children most in need. The school is also using the Nuffield Early Language Intervention with some of our Reception children, as well as reading mentoring to ensure that the support is there for those who really need it.
